Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a therapeutic process, often used in Life Coaching. NLP can enable the breaking of old patterns and offers new perspectives and potential by using a variety of techniques that will enable you to improve your communication skills, learn about relaxation, visualisation, breathing, posture and self-awareness. NLP also uses the ‘science of excellence’, which is an understanding that we are all human and if one man can achieve excellence, then it follows that if another man repeats these steps and does what the original man did, then he too should achieve the same result.
NLP encompasses the three components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming. The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we communicate with others and our programming determines the kind of models of the world that we create.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay effects our body and behaviour (programming). It follows that if we address one modality it will often have an effect on the other. For example, the language we use about ourselves and others will often have a direct effect on the way we behave so it follows if we change the language we use (for example, from negative to positive) this will impact on how we approach our lives and subsequently the results we get. This approach allows us to review ourselves and break restrictive patterns and self-induced limits.
Transitional Therapy uses an NLP approach to Life Coaching and personal change.
